Location
The great jewel of the district is the amazing Dappermarkt, a city market once voted by National Geographic Traveler magazine as one of the world’s “top ten shopping streets”. The market has over 200 stalls selling all number of crafts, clothing and international food. You will be amazed the variety of products on offer and it certainly makes a great afternoon excursion. The Dapperbuurt is also the birthplace one of the most famous and popular Dutch artists, Karel Appel.
The apartment is just a few minutes walk form the beautiful Oosterpark with its lake and green open spaces. A ten minute walk will take you into Amsterdam’s old centre or you can jump on the tram at the end of the road, again just a few minutes’ walk away.
5 minutes away and on your way into the centre is the excellent Artis Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in Europe with one of the most successful animal breeding programmes in the world. You will find all the usual popular animals here including tigers, giraffes and a very impressive monkey enclosure. There is even a small petting area for children and adults to interact with the more native animals such as goats and chickens and a enchanting butterfly house where hundreds of butterflies flutter around you as you walk amongst the amongst the tropical plants.
